Elton, Fulmer lead Beekman over Bastrop

Baleigh Elton went 4-for-4 and Kateland Fulmer crushed a three-run home run as Beekman was a 16-6 victor over Bastrop on Monday afternoon.

Beekman scored three runs with two outs and the bases empty in the visitors half of the first and never surrendered the lead.

Elton doubled to the left-center gap, Kasadee Armfield walked and Gracie Wooden smashed a two-run double down the left field line. Wooden crossed home with the third run when Alexis Crumley reached on an error.

Bastrop battled back with two in its half of the first.

Jalyn Marshall led off with a bunt single and stole second. With one away, Jordan Shipman stroked a one-out base hit to left and Alias Harris shellacked a two-run double to center.

Beekman expanded the margin to 9-2 with two in the second, three in the third and one in the fourth.

Savannah Thompson was hit by a pitch to start the second and circled the basepaths on Abigail Davis' double. Fulmer and Tanner Spigner plated Davis with consecutive groundouts as the Lady Tigers went up 5-2.

Leading off the fifth, Wooden singled to left, pilfered second and third and touched home when Crumley was safe on an error. Cadence Gray then beat out an infield single and Crumley was thrown out attempting to score on Thompson's fielder's choice. Gray and Thompson both scored on Davis' groundout to second base.

Up first in the fifth, Elton walked, scampered to third on Armfield's double and rushed home on Wooden's sacrifice fly.

Raytisha Jackson doubled to center in the Bastrop fourth and Cynthia Washington delivered an RBI single to make it 9-3.

Fulmer unloaded a three-run bomb to right-center with one out in the fifth as the Lady Tigers upped their lead to 12-3. Gray singled, Thompson grounded into a force play and Davis walked prior to Fulmer's home run.

After Beekman added an unearned run in the sixth, the Lady Rams kept the game going with two in the bottom of the frame.

Jackson and Janya Avance were safe on errors to place runners at the corners with one away. Back to the top of the lineup, Marshall ripped an RBI double and Jada Sneed drove Avance home with a bunt single to bring the Lady Rams within 13-5.

On to the Beekman seventh, Davis singled up the middle and Fulmer reached via error to set up consecutive RBI singles by Spigner and Elton.

Christianna Releford doubled to lead off the Lady Rams' half of the seventh and made her way home on groundouts by Tya Brandon and Jackson.

Alyssa Culbreath went three innings for the win, Foster pitched the fourth and Chloe Jenkins worked the final three innings for the save.

Beekman out-hit the Lady Rams 16-14. Elton led the way with a double, three singles and two RBIs. Wooden went 3-for-4 with a double, two singles, two RBIs and three runs scored. Fulmer homered and singled, Gray singled twice, Armfield and Davis doubled and Spigner, Madison Lozano and Emery Diel singled.

Marshall went 3-for-4 with a double and two singles to pace the Lady Rams. Releford and Jackson doubled and singled, Sneed and Washington sliced two singles apiece, Harris doubled and Shipman and Avance singled.

Both teams return to the diamond Tuesday. Beekman (6-10) is at home against Claiborne Christian while Bastrop (2-8) ventures to West Ouachita for a District 2-4A tilt.
