Funeral services for Effie Mae Conley are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. The Rev. Scott Petrus will officiate. Interment will follow at the Beekman Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Visitation with the family will be Monday, September 30th, beginning at 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
Effie Mae Conley was born August 30, 1931 at Wilmot, Ark. to the late Henry W. Ferrell and Effie Corine Manning Ferrell. She passed away peacefully on September 28, 2013 at Lagniappe Health Care in Bastrop.
Ms. Conley, "DeeDee", worked hard all her life to provide for her family. She retired after many years of employment with Bell South and AT&T. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Bastrop. She is preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Shawn David Conley; and four siblings, Henry Ferrell, Jr., Nell Hammond, Patsy Ann Lusby and Wanda Milliren.
"DeeDee" is survived by her two sons, Johnny Lynn Conley of Bastrop, Steven Jay Conley and his wife, Lorie of Bastrop; five grandchildren, Shey Whimbish and her husband, Zack, Sherry Conley, Jessica Sawyer and her husband, Rickey, Beth Conley and Mary Conley; five great-grandchildren, Trey Rainwater, Shamiya Conley, Presley Whimbish, Lillian Conley and Lillie Sawyer. She is also survived by two brothers, Carvin O. Ferrell and his wife, Mary Lou of Bastrop, Richard Ferrell and his wife, Deanna Ferrell of Citrus Heights, Calif.; a sister, Joyce Johnson of Bastrop and a host of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers are Lewis Maddox, Scotty Milliren, Steve Daigle, Zack Whimbish, Steve Golden and Steve Hammond.
