All-Division IV District II Girls Soccer Team

Reaping the rewards of their second straight league championship, Sterlington claimed two individual awards and six first-team slots on the All-Division IV District II girls soccer squad.

Sophomore striker Maddie Lawhon is the District MVP and senior teammate Lauren Wright is the Defensive MVP after helping the Lady Panthers to a 16-4-3 record and a No. 5 seed in the playoff bracket. Jordan Smith of Grace Christian is the Offensive MVP.

Lawhon tallied a team-high 29 goals and 15 assists while Wright anchored the defense.

"Lauren was definitely a playmaker for us," Sterlington coach Lori Bruscato said. "Lauren brought a sense of confidence to our back line. She was tough to beat back there."

Wright shared the 2018 District MVP award with former teammate Chandler Manning.

"Lauren had a phenomenal year last year, too. Her and Maddie made All-Northeast Louisiana last year, and they both came back and played well this year," Bruscato said, noting that voting for the 2019 All-NELA team has yet to be conducted. "I'm sad to see Lauren and Gray (Grunsky) leaving our defense, but I am super excited to have Maddie for two more years.

"I think we have a good, strong group coming back, so hopefully, we'll have another good year next year."

Lawhon and Wright are joined on the first team by sophomore Allison Guerriero, and a trio of juniors — Shelby Moore, Bel Coley and goalie Ana Hodnett.

Grace Christian has four first-team honorees while St. Frederick and Ouachita Christian both claimed two spots.

Smith is accompanied on the first unit by Madi McDowell, Abbey Pitts and Holly Carter.

Larkin Barham and Skylar Donald of St. Fred and Alyssa Chambliss and Tru Chambliss of OCS complete the first team.

Lawhon, Wright, Moore, Hodnett, Smith, Carter and Alyssa Chambliss are all repeat first-team selections.

Junior Kayla Dahlum, senior Gray Grunsky and sophomore Emma Grace Brister of Sterlington received second-team accolades.

Also listed on the second unit are Shealbie Whatley, Jillian Gresham and Madyson Howard of Grace Christian; Sophie Morstead and Auburn Morgan of St. Fred; Carolyn Dorris and Mallory Cascio of OCS; and Jordyn Sharp, Ava Gillespie and Chloe Smith of Delta Charter.

Freshman Mollie Sims, sophomore Emarie Adams and junior Madelyn Bozeman are the Lady Panthers' honorable mention picks.

Filling out the honorable mention list are Rebekah Murphy and Allison Tarver of Grace; Liza Barkley and Lauren Hanemann of St. Fred; Kaylee Treutlein and Taylor Califano of OCS; Ally Crofford and Olivia Lancaster of Delta Charter; Katia Romero and Dulce Monroy of Rapides; and Macie Seyfarth and Sara Cockerham of Vidalia.
