Sterlington 14, Forest 4

All nine Sterlington starters hit safely in a 14-4 triumph over Forest, Sunday afternoon at ULM.

With the victory, the Lady Panthers (3-3) closed out Polar Bear Classic play 2-1.

KB Briley led off the bottom of the Sterlington first with an opposite field triple to right. Two batters later, Kaela Mullins' two-run bomb to straight away center field put the Lady Panthers on top 2-0.

Sterlington increased its advantage to 8-0 with three in the second, one in the third and two in the fourth.

Chesnie Daigle's RBI single was the lone hit in the second as the Lady Panthers cashed in on three walks and two errors.

Madigan Stevens' two-out single drove in Rachel Wisecarver, aboard via error, in the third.

A walk to Daigle and consecutive singles by Briley and Carly Wilson loaded the bases with nobody out in the fourth. RBI singles by Hannah Jerkins and Wisecarver widened the difference to 8-0.

Aided by five walks and Caroline Kelly's two-run single, Forest cut the deficit in half with a four-run fifth.

Sterlington put the game away with trifectas in the fifth and sixth.

Emarie Adams led off the fifth with a base hit to left and Daigle walked. Both runners moved up on a passed ball to set up Briley's two-run single. Briley later scored on a wild pitch, bringing the score to 11-4.

Successive one-out singles by Carlee Canal, Stevens, Adams and Daigle in the sixth put the 10-run rule into effect.

Holding Forest to three hits, Katie Haynes pitched 4.1 innings for the win, with Adams providing 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.

Briley went 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and four runs scored to key the Lady Panthers' 14-hit production. Daigle went 2-for-2 with two walks and scored three times. Stevens and Adams had two singles apiece, Mullins homered, and Wilson, Jerkins, Wisecarver and Canal singled.

Abbie Ramage, McKenzie Ellerbe and Kelly singled for the Lady Bulldogs (2-1).

Forest starter Brooke Ross was followed to the circle by Kinley Smith and McKenzie Ellerbe.
