Trey Altick Louisiana Prep Classic

Provided the weather cooperates (which it wasn't at the time of this post), the Beekman Tigers will end their unscheduled layoff in the upcoming Trey Altick Louisiana Prep Classic.

Beekman has played only one game thus far, a 6-3 loss at Oak Grove on Monday, Feb. 18. Coach Jake Andrews' Tigers were scheduled to play Bastrop in a home-and-home series Monday and Tuesday, but those games were canceled due to flooding in the northern part of the parish.

Among the Tigers' key returning players this season are Ryan Chain, Brayden Spigner, Brock Jenkins, Pierce Hayman and Joey Chain.

Beekman is among 50-plus teams competing in the annual Trey Altick Louisiana Prep Classic, which runs Thursday-Saturday. In all, 100 games are scheduled for various sites throughout north Louisiana. Starting with Thursday's 4:30 p.m. game vs. Kentwood at Sterlington High School, the Tigers are scheduled to play three games. Beekman is paired against Madison Prep on Friday at 8 p.m. at the Sterlington Sports Complex (Field 3). Making a quick turn-around, the Tigers return to Sterlington High Saturday morning for a 10 a.m. start vs. Loranger.

Four defending state champions — Baton Rouge Central (Class 5A), Benton (4A), John Curtis (Division I) and Claiborne Christian (Division V) — headline the field.

Other teams include Airline, Alexandria Senior High, Baptist Prep (Ark.), Beekman, Brookhaven (Miss.), Byrd, Calvary Baptist, Captain Shreve, Catholic-Pointe Coupee, Cedar Creek, Choudrant, Crossett (Ark.), D'Arbonne Woods, Delhi Charter, Dunham, East St. John, Eunice, Evangel, Family Christian, Franklin Parish, Greenbriar (Ark.), Haughton, Holy Cross, Jena, Kentwood, Kinder, Loranger, Lutcher, Madison Prep, Mangham, Natchitoches Central, Neville, North DeSoto, Oak Grove, Opelousas Catholic, Ouachita, Ouachita Christian, Parkway, Pineville, Rummel, Ruston, St. Charles, St. Frederick, St. Thomas Aquinas, Sterlington, Tioga, Union Parish, University, Vilonia (Ark.), Walker, West Monroe, West Ouachita and Zachary.
