Sterlington 66, Winnfield 36

Reid Handy gunned in six of Sterlington's nine 3-pointers as the Panthers had their way with one-time District 2-2A rival Winnfield 66-36 Friday night.

Going right to work from long range, the Panthers torched the visitors for six treys en route to gaining a 27-9 first quarter advantage. Handy hit a trio of 3s with one each by Kaden Key, Mike Givens and Malachi Broadway.

Handy added two more baskets from beyond the arch to help the Panthers take a 40-25 edge into intermission.

Receiving five points from Kyle Henderson, the Panthers outscored the Tigers 16-3 in the third quarter to go up 56-28.

With Fred Hymes tallying three buckets, Sterlington held a 10-8 advantage in the final period.

Key posted 11 points to join Handy in double figures. Also involved in the Sterlington (18-2) scoring were Henderson with nine, Givens and Fred Hymes with eight apiece, Broadway with six and Ashton Stallings, Chance Carter and L'Davion Hicks with two.

K.J. Evans paced the Tigers (6-14) with 11 points. Jim Brown had eight on a pair of 3s, Xavier Magee seven, Williams Glover four, Zion Paul three, Landen Womack two and Desmond Duncan one.

Sterlington outscored the Tigers 27-9 from 3-point distance.
