Sterlington 48, Winnfield 27

Michaela Waters and Ashleigh Davis accounted for 26 points as Sterlington defeated Winnfield 48-27 Friday night at the Panthers' Den.

Waters picked up six points as the Lady Panthers took a 9-6 first quarter lead.

Sterlington increased the margin to 19-12 at halftime.

With Waters adding seven points in the third frame, the Lady Panthers bumped their lead out to 30-20.

Davis dropped in seven points and Kaela Mullins five as Sterlington outscored the Lady Tigers 18-7 in the final frame to put the game out of reach.

Waters propelled the Lady Panthers (12-9) offensively with 15 points and Davis had 11. Also adding to the scoring summary were Jayme Broadway with seven, Jayla Stewart and McKenzie Gray with four apiece, Bri Logan with three and Wesley Duncan and Kirston Green with deuces.

Mikessa Evans scored nine of her 12 points in the second half to lead Winnfield (4-11). Amaya McClain was next with seven, Jade Briggs had five, Bria Pikes two and Z'Nyia Parel one.

Sterlington made just 20-of-41 (48.8 percent) free throws while the Lady Tigers were an efficient 10-of-14 (71.4 percent) from the charity stripe.

Winnfield outscored the Lady Panthers 9-0 from 3-point range, but managed only four two-point field goals while losing its sixth straight game.
