LAKE D’ARBONNE — The lake is high with lots of current and fresh muddy water. A few crappie have been caught on shiners and to nobody’s surprise, you can still catch channel catfish on cold worms. LAKE CLAIBORNE — Best fishing for crappie has been at night fishing around the lights with shiners. A few have started to show up in deep water out from the dam and some are catching crappie on shiners below the spillway. CANEY LAKE — With fresh water and water temperatures hanging around the mid-50s, fishing in general has been slow. Some are starting to catch a few around submerged structure but as a whole, the fish are not in the cold weather deep water pattern just yet. Some fair sized bass have been caught fishing the humps with crank baits or jigs. If the weather ever settles, you should be able to catch a variety of largemouth, yellow bass and crappie bouncing jigs or jigging spoons off the bottom in deep water. LAKE POVERTY POINT — Catfishing continues to be good on cut shad and night crawlers. Crappie seem to be biting best on the south end of the lake in deeper water with the Bobby Garland Patriot and Lights Out jigs picking up some good fish.
