Sterlington 71, Cedar Creek

Closing out the first day of action in the Sterlington Shootout on Thursday night, the host Panthers eased to a 71-33 conquest of Cedar Creek.

Bolstered by seven points from Kyle Henderson and a pair of long distance bombs from Reid Handy, Sterlington forged ahead 16-12 after the first eight minutes.

Henderson tossed in 12 more points in the second period to help the Panthers open up a sizable 39-15 halftime spread.

On to the third quarter, Henderson and Key combined for 18 points as the Panthers stretched the difference to 58-19. Henderson's 12 points featured a 3-pointer and a three-point play.

Henderson totaled 25 points to lead a trio of Panthers (14-1) in double digits. Key turned in a 14-point effort, followed by Reid Handy with 10, Fred Hymes with eight, Ashton Stallings with seven, Malachi Broadway with three and Luke Handy and L'Davion Hicks with two. Henderson and Key both connected twice from outside the arch.

Landon Spillers was top scorer for The Creek (5-10) with 10 points. Also contributing to the scoring summary were Chandler Hay (9), Blake Moss (5), Carson Riley (3), Christian Norris (2), Gavin Walker (2), Preston Tullos (1) and Logan Johnson (1). Hay swished three of the Cougars' five 3-pointers.
