Sterlington 43, Georgetown 15

GEORGETOWN — Sterlington opened up a 17-2 first quarter lead on its way to a 43-15 win at Georgetown on Monday night.

Winners of six straight and seven of their last eight, the Lady Panthers improved to 9-6 on the season.

Kaela Mullins scored eight of her 12 points on 4-of-4 free throw shooting in the opening frame.

Sterlington carried a 23-6 advantage into the break and was up 35-12 at the end of three.

Mullins had six rebounds to go with her 12-point effort. Rounding out the Lady Panthers' scoring were Michaela Waters with 10 points, Ashleigh Davis with six, Bri Logan and Jayme Broadway with five, Jayla Stewart with three and McKenzie Gray with two points and 10 rebounds. Stewart led the way defensively with five steals.

Sterlington shot just 15-of-58 (25.9 percent) from the floor, while going 2-of-11 (18.2 percent) from 3-point range and 11-of-19 (57.9 percent) from the free throw line.

Returning from Christmas break, the Lady Panthers will host the Sterlington Shootout, starting Thursday, Dec. 27. Sterlington is paired against Mangham on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., Bastrop on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Oak Grove on Saturday at 7 p.m.
