LAKE D’ARBONNE — The lake is high and rising with lots of muddy water. Before the rains, crappie had been best in the deeper channels on shiners and a variety of jigs including the Indigo Sky, Green Lantern, Monkey Milk Glo and Shadow. Bass had been around the deep drop offs and around grass before the rains. Bream are slow but catfish never stop biting cold worms. LAKE CLAIBORNE — The bite has slowed down but best place to catch crappie is in deep water out from the dam on shiners and jigs. With rains triggering water spilling over the dam, crappie should begin to bite shiners below the dam. No report for bass, bream, catfish or stripers this week. CANEY LAKE — Crappie anglers have been gathering up out from the dam until heavy rains and run-off has slowed fishing. Bass and yellow bass fishing has been best bouncing jigging spoons off the bottom in deep water. No report this week on catfish or bream.
