MAIS All-District 2-5A softball team

Six members of the Prairie View softball team, including three eighth-graders and two freshmen, have received MAIS All-District 5-2A recognition.

Representing the Lady Spartans on the squad are junior right fielder Madi Crymes, freshman center fielder Emma Goss, freshman catcher Anna Grace White and the trio of eighth-graders — pitcher/left fielder Kayla Hawthorne, pitcher/utility player Elle Morgan and second baseman Chloe Hobson.

Crymes packaged together a .381 batting and a .509 on base percentage while driving in a team-high 18 runs. She also had four doubles and scored 14 runs while compiling a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 20 games.

Goss hit at a .333 clip with a .423 on base percentage, 13 RBIs and 14 runs scored. Like Crymes, Goss played error-free defense over the course of the entire season.

White led the Lady Spartans in multiple offensive categories including batting average (.404), on base percentage (.576), slugging (.600), walks (14), hit by pitches (5) and stolen bases (11-for-13). She also contributed three triples, six doubles, 11 RBI and 14 runs while striking out only three times in 66 plate appearances.

Hawthorne's 22 hits, 20 runs and 32 total bases were tops on the team. Additionally, she fashioned a .386/.453/.561 slash line to go with three triples, four doubles, 13 RBIs and 10 stolen bases in 11 attempts.

Morgan slashed .373/.500/.569 and poled a team-high 10 doubles while collecting 17 RBIs and scoring 17 runs. She drew 10 walks and fanned only three times in 64 trips to the plate.

Hobson posted a .333 batting average to go with a .509 on base clip, nine RBIs and 13 runs scored. She drew 11 walks against just four strikeouts in 54 plate appearances.
