Prairie View 15, Riverdale 5
COUSHATTA — Hannah Billings went 2-for-3 and drove in six runs as Prairie View routed Riverdale 15-5 Thursday afternoon in the season softball finale for both teams.
Down 5-4, the Lady Spartans put seven straight runners aboard to start the seventh.
Chloe Hobson and Madi Crymes singled to set up Billings' go-ahead, two-run double. Billings later scored on a wild pitch. Chloe Halterman and Anna Grace White walked before Emma Goss reached on an error to cap the four-run inning with Prairie View up 8-5.
Crymes doubled and later tagged up on Halterman's sacrifice fly to left in the third.
Prairie View plated six more in the fifth to put the game out of reach.
Kayla Hawthorne singled and Elle Morgan walked to place runners at first and second with one out. All six runs crossed the plate with two down.
Chloe Hobson singled Hawthorne home and Crymes walked to load the bases. Stepping to the plate next, Billings unloaded a three-run double to left to give the Lady Spartans a commanding 13-5 lead.
Billings tallied when Halterman was safe on a misplay.
Back to the top of the lineup, White was hit by a pitch and Emma Goss chased Halterman across with an infield single.
Prairie View grabbed an early 4-0 lead on four walks, a hit batsman, an error and Crymes' RBI single.
Riverdale matched the Lady Spartans with four in the home half of the first.
Alyssa Woodard's RBI groundout put Riverdale in front 5-4 in the second. But the Lady Rebels' lead would be brief.
Crymes went 3-for-3 with a double as the Lady Spartans banged out a dozen hits. Billings knocked in six runs with the two big doubles and a bases-loaded walk in the first. Hawthorne and Hobson supplied two singles apiece, White and Morgan doubled and Goss singled to complete the attack.
Riverdale received base hits from Chloe Jordan, Rylee Kate Woodard, Alyssa Woodard and Ronda Black.
Rachel Hankins started in the circle for the Lady Spartans (8-10). Hawthorne picked up the win in middle relief, allowing one run (earned) on one hit, while striking out six and walking two through two innings. Elle Morgan worked two scoreless innings, finishing the game with three consecutive punchouts.
Bailee King was dealt the loss for Riverdale.
