Glenbrook 14, Prairie View 9
MINDEN — Emma Earnhardt and Alyssa Martin had three hits apiece as Glenbrook won a 14-9 decision over Prairie View in a Monday evening slugfest.
Prairie View did the bulk of its damage in the top of the fourth. Trailing 7-4, the Lady Spartans parlayed four hits, two walks, a hit batsman and an error into six runs.
Elle Morgan was hit by a pitch to start the outburst. Morgan stole second and third and scored on Chloe Hobson's infield single. A walk to Madi Crymes and Hannah Billings' base hit loaded the bases with still only one out. Chloe Halterman's RBI single, Anna Grace White's walk and a two-run single by Emma Goss put the Lady Spartans ahead 5-4. Two more runs crossed when Kayla Hawthorne reached on a two-out error, bringing the score to 7-4.
Glenbrook answered with seven in its half of the fourth, and Prairie View never regained the lead.
Earnhardt led off the big inning with a home run to straight-away center field. Sarah Mosley later added a two-run single as the Lady Apaches opened up an 11-7 advantage.
Prairie View trimmed the margin to 11-9 with two in the fifth.
Rachel Hankins poled a leadoff triple to deep center field and crossed home on Hobson's second RBI single of the game. Hobson scurried to second on a wild pitch and completed the circuit on Crymes' run-scoring single to right field.
Glenbrook stretched its lead to 14-9 with two in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Alyssa Martin pitched around a one-out free pass to Halterman in the seventh to cap the complete game victory. She struck out 10 and walked four.
Earnhardt homered, doubled and singled for the Lady Apaches, Martin went 3-for-4, Sarah Mosley drove in three runs with a pair of singles, Hannah Mosley went 2-for-3 and scored three runs, and Addi Monk and Reese Hanson singled.
Goss swung the hot bat for the Lady Spartans, going 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Hobson added a pair of singles and scored twice, Hankins tripled, Morgan doubled and Crymes, Billings and Halterman singled.
Kayla Hawthorne took the loss in the circle for the Lady Spartans with Morgan finishing up.
Prairie View (7-10, 2-4) travels to Riverdale for the regular season finale Thursday at 4 p.m. Two days later, the Lady Spartans open South State Tournament play in Liberty, Mississippi.
