(JV) Union 12, Sterlington 12

Sterlington scored on its first two possessions, but was unable to put visiting Union Parish away in an eventual 12-12 junior varsity draw Monday evening.

Ty'Reese Mitchell's interception on the third play from scrimmage enabled Sterlington to start its first series from the Union 38.

Two plays later, Larry Rogers broke through a hole to the left side for a 33-yard touchdown scamper.

Union moved into Sterlington territory on its next series before fumbling the ball away at the 45.

Antonio Taylor's diving catch helped set up Zach Crain's 3-yard as the Panthers went up 12-0 early in the second quarter.

Union closed the spread to 12-6 at halftime with a five-play, 70-yard drive.

Kieran Perry started the series with a 38-yard carry to the Sterlington 31.

On fourth-and-one, Jaylon Thomas made a leaping grab for a 23-yard touchdown reception from Cole Dyson.

Midway through the third quarter, Cade Smith's fumble recovery at the Sterlington 18 set up Corion Glosson's game-tying, 8-yard run.

Sterlington began its final series from its own 40 with 5:00 remaining.

Converting on fourth-and-seven from the 34, Grant Mangrum's 16-yard pass to Cole Thompson gave the Panthers a fresh set of downs at the 18 near the two-minute mark. On the following snap, Brandon Rosson forced a fumble and Braylen Thomas recovered for the Farmers with 1:13 to play.

Statistically, Sterlington produced 173 yards (126 rushing, 47 passing) of total offense and the Farmers finished with 149 (126 rushing, 23 passing).
