OUACHITA RIVER — Joe Bob’s and Logtown are the only launches open on the river at this time because of the drawdown. Some crappie have been caught in the bayou above Joe Bob’s on shiners and jigs. Bass are fairly slow. For latest information, contact the Honey Hole Tackle Shop at 323.8707.
LAKE D’ARBONNE — This has been a very slow week for the bass and crappie. Very few have been reportedly caught on the lake. However, the bream have been biting worms and crickets around the lake. Catfishing continues to be good on cold worms and night crawlers fished off the banks all around the lake. LAKE CLAIBORNE — Crappie fishing has slowed down quite a bit this week with few catches reported. Bass fishing has been slow during the daytime but fair to good at night around lighted piers on soft plastics, crank baits and spinners. Lots of bait fish have been seen but stripers are apparently not interested. No reports of schooling fish at all. Bream are slow to fair and catfishing is fair on cut bait or small bream below floating jugs and noodles. For latest information, call Tim Loftin at Kel’s Cove at 927.2264.
CANEY LAKE — Bass fishing has been slow to fair with some of the better fish hitting trick worms and 11 inch worms in watermelon red and blueberry colors. Some have been caught on a black Wobblehead with jigs picking up a few. Crappie are quiet slow but some good chinquapins have been caught on cold worms. No report on catfish this week. LAKE POVERTY POINT — Catfishing has been fair to good with a 12 pound channel cat caught around the boat slips. Bream, crappie and bass are all slow. For latest reports, call Poverty Point Marina at 318.878.0101.
LAKE ST. JOHN — Catfishing has been fair to good on yo-yos. fair. Bass are best early mornings on topwater lures. Crappie and bream are slow. For latest information contact Ken Mahoney at (318.757.0013).
LAKE YUCATAN — Water is slowly rising and fishing has slowed considerably. Some bass were caught over the weekend but rising water has shut them down. For latest information, call Surplus City Landing at 318.467.2259.
LAKE BRUIN — Stripers have been quite good fishing under the lights on Rat-L-Traps and Swim Jigs. Some bass have been caught along with the stripers.
