OUACHITA RIVER — Joe Bob’s is the only launch open on the river at this time because of the drawdown. Catfishing has been fair using rods and reels baited with cold worms. LAKE D’ARBONNE — Crappie fishing has been best up in the day using jigs and shiners on fish suspended over deep water. Bass are best in the sloughs and creeks fishing around grass with soft plastics and buzz baits. Both bass and crappie are doing fair on the bayou below the spillway while some bream can still be caught on worms and crickets. Catfishing is good on cold worms all around the lake. LAKE CLAIBORNE — Fishing around the lighted piers at night using crank baits is still the best way to catch stripers. Bass have been rather slow during the days but better at night around the lights on soft plastics. Catfishing is fair to good on a variety of baits fished below floating jugs or pool noodles. Some bream are still hanging around bedding areas and hitting crickets and worms. Crappie fishing has slowed down with a few caught around deep brush on shiners or jigs. CANEY LAKE — Look for schooling bass breaking the water around the lake. Shad imitation lures are picking up a few schoolies. Better fish are being caught on deep diving crank baits and big plastic worms on the deeper humps. Crappie are slow to fair around deep tops while some chinquapins are hitting cold worms on the flats. No report on catfish this week.
