OUACHITA RIVER — Joe Bob’s is the only launch open on the river at this time because of the drawdown. A good many catfish have been caught on rods and reels using cold worms for bait. LAKE D’ARBONNE — Bass have been fair fishing around the grass in the sloughs. Soft plastics, Rat-L-Traps and spinners are picking up a few. Crappie are in the deeper sloughs fishing jigs and shiners 9-10 feet deep in 15-20 foot water. Better fishing for both bass and crappie has been below the spillway. Bream are best fishing worms and crickets around Terrell Island. Catfishing is good fishing off the banks using cold worms. LAKE CLAIBORNE — Bream are still on the beds and hitting worms and crickets. Catfishing has been quite good with lots of blue catfish caught beneath jugs baited with cut bait. Striper fishing has been best at night fishing around lighted piers while bass are also around the piers with soft plastics picking up some nice fish. Crappie are fair around the deep tops on jigs. CANEY LAKE — Some bass are schooling and hitting shad imitations. Some to over 7 pounds have been caught fishing big plastic worms or deep diving crank baits in deeper water. A good many barfish are also being caught along with the bass. Crappie are fair fishing jigs and shiners around deep tops. Chinquapins are improving on cold worms fished on the bottom in 8-10 foot water.
