LAKE D’ARBONNE — Bass fishing has been fair to good up the creeks with plastic frogs and topwater lures taking some fish early mornings around the grass. Also some have been caught using deep diving crank baits and Carolina-rigged worms on the deep drops. Crappie fishing is fair on the flats using shiners or jigs. LAKE CLAIBORNE — Crappie continue to bite shiners or jigs fished around and over the deep tops. Bass fishing has been fair to good on deep diving crank baits and oversized plastic worms on deep structure. Bream have slowed but stripers are occasionally schooling and best bet is trolling white bucktails with white grub trailers. No report on catfish this week. CANEY LAKE — Bass are schooling and hitting shad imitations both early mornings and in the middle of the day. Deep diving crank baits and 11 inch worms fished around deep structure and drops have produced some bigger bass, the largest over 11 pounds. Look for the chinquapins to start biting around the next full moon. Crappie are slow to fair with most caught fishing shiners or jigs around deep tops. No report on catfish.
