Louisiana High School Coaches Association/Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Games

Carson Clowers and Brooks Rushworth have been baseball teammates since age 9. They will represent Sterlington High one more time this weekend.

As members of the East team, the two Panthers will play in the Louisiana High School Coaches Association/Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association All-Star baseball games at Louisiana College in Pineville. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday. Both games are scheduled for nine innings.

It's been a glorious run for Clowers and Rushworth. As juniors, the duo helped Sterlington win its first state championship in both football and baseball. Leading the Panthers in the transition from Class 2A to 3A as seniors, the duo helped SHS advance to the state quarterfinals in football and the semifinals in baseball.

Clowers spent two years at wide receiver before taking over the starting quarterback duties for his final two seasons. Also a four-year starter in baseball, Clowers spent the past two-plus seasons as the Panthers' shortstop.

Rushworth was a defensive end for three years before moving to tight end as a senior. He played multiple positions in baseball before settling in at center field as a senior.

Though both will continue their baseball careers at the next level, they will go their separate ways after Saturday. Clowers has signed with Stephen F. Austin while Rushworth is headed to LSU Eunice.

Other area players selected to the East squad include Jake Hammond of Ouachita, Michael Haynes of Neville, Luke Honeycutt of West Ouachita, Kenyon Major of Franklin Parish and CJ Willis of Ruston.

Mike Forbes of Baton Rouge Central will coach the East, while Lonny Landry of Ascension Episcopal will direct the West.
