The Morehouse Parish Police Jury recently handed over the weekly trash pickup to Waste Management, and they released a flyer noting two dumpster locations that Morehouse residents can use to dispose of larger items.

As noted on a flyer from the Morehouse Parish Police Jury, two locations are available for residents to use for disposal of larger trash items. Usage of these sites is free.

One dumpster is located at the Morehouse Parish Public Works Department on 3230 New Monroe Road which is open Monday through Sunday from 7:00a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The other location is in Mer Rouge at the Village of Mer Rouge Public Works at 406 South 14th Street and is open Thursday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It was stated, “Hours may vary due to dumpster availability.”

It was stated on the flyer that items such as furniture, mattresses, water hoses, toys, box springs, and appliances can be disposed of at these sites. Household trash, hazardous materials, roofing materials, demolition materials, home remodeling materials, other such items may not be disposed of there.

The Police Jury also explained in the flyer, “All loads will be screened and proof of residency verified with a state issued picture I.D. by the operator.” It was noted that residents must set up an account with Waste Management to have household trash picked up.
