Morehouse Community Medical Centers, Inc. purchased the Washington Square Cinema in September 2017 with plans to build a new medical facility. Currently, demolition has began as MCMC starts the initial phase of this project. “We know it is hard for the community to see a place that held a lot of memories go,” said Katie Parnell, CEO.
The Architecture Alliance Group, out of Monroe, has been hired to design the new state of the art medical facility. It is anticipated that new medical facility will be around 20,000 sq feet. “We are very excited about this project and are in desperate need of the additional office space” said Parnell.
Morehouse Community Medical Centers, Inc. is a non- profit organization that was funded by the federal government as a FQHC (federally qualified healthcare center). MCMC opened it’s first clinic in Morehouse Parish in September 2007. Today MCMC has expanded it’s operations to include 11 locations throughout Morehouse, Union and Ouachita parishes. MCMC currently provides a full array of healthcare services including medical, dental, behavioral health and pharmacy services. Christy Merriweather, Community Liaison Coordinator stated, “We hope that the citizens of Morehouse Parish, and surrounding areas, will welcome the new facility and take advantage of all the services MCMC provides.”
