The Rose theatre of Bastrop is getting into the Christmas spirit early this year with auditions being held on Friday, September 21 and Saturday, September 22 for a performance of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.”

Friday's auditions will start at 6:00 p.m., and Saturday's will be at 2:00 p.m. There are a variety of roles.

“There are a lot of kid characters, but there are adults involved as well,” said director Don Mitchell.

The play, based on a book, centers around the Herdman children, known for being the worst kids in the neighborhood. When they get involved in the local church play, however, the magic of Christmas starts to change them for the better. The show is full of laughs and drama and shows just what Christmas is all about.

“It's been quite a few years since this play graced the Rose stage, and it's really fantastic,” said Mitchell. “The kids go from mean bullies to having the Christmas spirit, and it's a really popular show.”

The show will be presented Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1 with a matinee performance on Sunday, December 2.

This is an open audition, and anyone interested can come and try out. The Rose encourages anyone who wants to come to try out for a part in this one-of-a-kind christmas play.
