On September 8, 2018 Major Antonio German made a traffic stop on a John M. Fryday. Fryday was driving a small truck, and there were several air Conditioner window units, a generator, a push lawn mower, nail guns and a saw. German questioned Fryday about the items in the truck and photographed them. There was no report of a theft on file at that time. The following day, Sept. 9, 2018, MPSO received a report of a burglary on Old Bonita Rd. The items listed as missing matched the things that were in Fryday's truck. Fryday along with an Ashley Smalling, was contacted and questioned again by Investigator Jeff Philly. Both Fryday and Smalling were charged with simple Burglary and Criminal conspiracy. With the arrest of Fryday a second burglary and theft were also cleared. Fryday faces additional charges of theft of a firearm and 4 counts of possession of a firearm by convicted felon. Smalling was charged with simple burglary and criminal conspiracy.
