The Morehouse Activity Center is will host the Bergeron Rodeo Company on Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14.

MAC board member and Louisiana Rodeo Cowboy Association barrel racing director Amanda Averett said the rodeo will have everything anyone could possibly want a rodeo to have.

"It is a family-friendly event," she said. "We will have a bouncy house for the kids, 'mutton bustin' and a calf scramble contest for kids 12 and under. A calf scramble is where kids will be invited into the arena, and we will turn two cows loose with ribbons tied to their tails. Whoever gets the ribbon first will win a prize. There will be two winners per night."

There will also be clown entertainment and goodies will be thrown to the crowd, Averett said.

"We will have bucking horses, team roping, girls break away roping, calf roping, barrel racing, hometown barrel racing and bull riding," she said.

Jim Bergeron of Mowata, Louisiana began the Bergeron Rodeo Company in 1979. The Bergeron Rodeo Company was formerly called The Rodeo Company, until 2008 when it evolved to included Jim Bergeron's son, Jay.

Since its beginning, the Bergeron Rodeo Company has grown and expanded from Louisiana to Texas, Mississippi and Arkansas.

Jim Bergeron said he prides himself on putting on "top notch entertainment for the entire family."

Averett said Bergeron Rodeo Company will be passing out free tickets to all the Morehouse Parish schools.

"We will also have local vendors, Davis Kettle Corn and Cajun Cowboy Collection selling goods," she said. "There will be concessions as well."

The rodeo will begin both nights at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages five and under. Children three years and under will enter free.
