Morehouse Community Medical Center is teaming up with the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission to host its first free child passenger safety seat check on Wednesday, April 4 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
MCMC liaison coordinator Christy Merriweather said she hopes the community will come out to support this free, life-saving event.
"The State Police will be there to teach proper installation of car seats," she said. "It is important and it is a free event. Child seats that are properly installed help to save lives."
According to the Louisiana State Police website, it is estimated that at least three out four child restraint systems are being misused.
"This free safety seat check is a great way to make sure you are putting your carseats in right," Merriweather said. "Experts will show you the right way to put them in to be sure that your child is properly restrained."
The free safety check will be held at 518 Durham Street. For more information call MCMC at 283.8887.
