The Bastrop-Morehouse Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Mer Rouge Nutrition on Saturday, January 23. Owned by Elizabeth and Daniel Bailey along with Kristen and Julian Brown, Mer Rouge nutrition sells protein shakes and loaded teas in various flavors as well as coffees. They offer weekly specials for $6 and customers can receive $1 off for checking in on Facebook when visiting the shop. During the Ribbon Cutting, Elizabeth spoke to the attendees thanking them for coming. “Thank you for supporting us. We have been overwhelmed by the community support, and we want to give back to the community. We want to become a staple here.” During the day of the ceremony, customers were able to pick numbers from a prize wall that offered various prizes depending on the number such as discounts and gift baskets. Chamber Director Dorothy Ford thanked the couples for opening their shop in Mer Rouge and welcomed them. Mer Rouge Mayor Johnny McAdams also thanked them for choosing to open their business in Mer Rouge and stated that they are welcome to come to him if they ever need help.” A ribbon was then cut by the couples officially opening the shop. Seen here, the couples cut the ribbon while the attendees look on.
