Outlook for area anglers:
BLACK BAYOU — Crappie are slow to fair around the pads and grass on jigs. Bass are slow with a few caught on jigs and plastic worms around the grass. Contact the Honey Hole Tackle Shop at 323.8707 for latest information.
OUACHITA RIVER — Bass are in the mouth of the sloughs. Topwaters early morning are picking up some while spinners and soft plastics are working best later. LAKE D’ARBONNE — Bass have moved deep and fishing has been fair fishing the channel drops with soft plastics, deep diving crank baits and spinners. Crappie are mostly in the deeper sloughs and any jig with chartreuse seems to be working best. The bream have slowed down significantly while catfishing continues to be good on cold worms fished off the banks around the lake. LAKE CLAIBORNE — Fishing in general is rather slow this week. A few crappie are being caught around the deep tops while bass have been slow to fair fishing deep structure with soft plastics. CANEY LAKE — Reports are coming in of yellow bass still hitting shad imitations fished in deep water. Bass are schooling some and hitting shad imitations while the bigger fish are hanging out around deep humps and channels. Oversized plastic worms and deep diving crank baits are picking up a few. Crappie fishing has been fair fishing shiners around deep tops. The chinquapin bite is just about over. LAKE BRUIN — The lake is undergoing a drawdown of five feet. Bass fishing has improved fishing crank baits around the ends of the piers.
