Bastrop's preseason debut was cut short Saturday night due to weather conditions.

MONROE — Bastrop's preseason scrimmage at Wossman was halted by lightning Saturday evening.

The Rams' first unit was able to get in 10 plays on both sides of the ball while the second team was on the field for eight snaps.

But the live action was cut well short as Wossman went three plays and out, and the Rams took four offensive snaps before play was called.

"We missed an opportunity to get better," said Bastrop coach Adrian Burnette, who was clearly disappointed by the limited amount of work. "What can you figure out in 14 plays?"

Wossman scored the only touchdown of the 10-play series among the starting units.

"We weren't as efficient early offensively as we wanted to be," Burnette said. "When you are doing the scripted plays at the beginning, the fans say, 'These are the plays we are going to run,' but that's not necessarily true. Once you get into the game, start picking up the pace and signaling plays from the sidelines, it kind of changes the complexion of the game."

BAYOU JAMB: Returning to the practice field Monday, the Rams begin preparations for the Bayou Jamb. Bastrop is paired against Sterlington on Friday at 8 p.m. St. Frederick and Jonesboro-Hodge kick off the two-day, six-game event at ULM on Friday at 6 p.m.

Presale tickets are available at the Bastrop High fieldhouse for $15. Cost at the gate is $18. (Tickets cover admission to all six games).

Saturday's schedule has Jena vs. Ouachita Christian at 1 p.m., Mangham vs. Oak Grove at 3:00, Ouachita vs. Ruston at 5:00 and Neville vs. West Monroe at 7:00.
