The Delta Magnet School Dazzlers ended their 2014 summer dance camp with a performance for friends, family and school staff on Wednesday, July 30. Red, white and blue pom-poms lined the floor as nine dazzlers took to the Mustang basketball court to show off four new dances, including three taught to the line-up by Rashini Tappin.

Tappin graduated Bastrop High School this year and will be attending Southern University in the fall as well as auditioning for the school's dance line. She acted as an instructor for the three day camp held this week.

According to Janice Miller, a teacher at Delta Magnet who is entering her second year as leader of the Delta Dazzlers, the team will perform at both football and basketball games played at home as well as at select school events, such as the talent show, and area nursing homes.

At the end of the routine demonstrations, each girl received a gift bag featuring goodies to help them prepare for their performances during the coming year and a present from departing Delta Principal Cynthia Clark.

"I have enjoyed working with you ladies," Clark said. "Think about me when you're performing, because I like to dance too."

The 2014 to 2015 Dazzler line up consists of the following young women: Captain Mikenzie Tappin,

Co-Captain Arlana Miller, Jada Sneed, Glaja Jackson, Imri Carr, Indya Carr, Shakirra German, Arianna White and Andenecia Bradshaw.

Their next performance will take place at Delta Magnet's back-to-school celebration, which starts at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 21.
