Funeral services for Daniel W. McClain Sr. will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. The Rev. Kenneth Pack will officiate the services. Interment will follow at the Bartholomew Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.

Daniel Webster McClain was born April 3, 1937 in Vick, Ark. to the late John Shields McClain and Lucian Veree Brady McClain. He died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at his home in Bastrop. Mr. McClain was a member of the Central Missionary Baptist Church in Warren, Ark. Dan worked many years for Wal-Mart throughout Arkansas and retired as the tire and automotive department manager with Wal-Mart of Bastrop. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Glen W. McClain and a son, John W. McClain Sr.

Mr. McClain is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nelda Yvonne Buffington McClain; two sons, Daniel W. McClain Jr. and John W. McClain II all of Bastrop; a beloved daughter, Cindy Carver Martinez and husband, Chivo of Refugio, Texas; a sister, Nettie Jane Weaver and husband, Lloyd of Warren, Ark.; two brothers, Charles "Andy" McClain of Houston, Texas and Brady "Jack" McClain and wife, Wanda of Texarkana, Ark. He is also survived by grandchildren, Katie, Charles and Mark McClain; beloved grandchildren, Candice and her son, Trenton, Bobby and his daughter, Beth, Brandi and her son, Baylor; two great-great-grandchildren, Carley and C.J.; and his beloved dog and riding companion, Kallie.

Serving as pallbearers will be Thomas Bates, James McCree and members of the Python Motorcycle Club.
