Morehouse belted three runs to complement the three-hit pitching of Jacob Slade en route to an 8-2 first round victory over Northeast Saturday evening in the first round of the Dixie Majors (ages 17-19) District 5 Tournament.
Colby Gilbert started the scoring with a three-run bomb in the third inning. Robby Jones and Micah Harper dialed long distance in the fourth as Morehouse built a 7-0 lead.
Gilbert and Heckford swatted a homer and a single to lead Morehouse’s 10-hit attack. Slade added two singles, Jones went deep and Hunter Smith, Dillon McGraw and Colton Perkins singled.
Slade struck out 10 batters, including seven over the final three frames, in the complete game win.
