Junior cornerback Rodney Anthony made an impact in Tuskegee’s 35-28 overtime victory over Kentucky State on Saturday in St. Louis.
With Kentucky State marching towards the potential game-tying score, Anthony jarred the ball loose from wide receiver Deron Hawkins at the 2-yardline. Daniero Robiskie fell on the loose ball in the endzone for a touchback with 17 seconds left in the half to preserve Tuskegee’s 21-14 lead.
Anthony, who suffered a slight concussion on the hit, did not realize what he had done at the time.
“When I made the hit, all I saw was lights,” Anthony said.
Tuskegee coach Willie Slater called Anthony’s play, “a game-winning hit.”
Anthony, who missed the Golden Lions’ previous two games with a hamstring injury, finished the contest with two tackles and the forced fumble.
