Bastrop, La. -

Running its Pee Wee football record to 5-0, the Prairie View Spartans throttled the Briarfield Rebels 34-0.

George Spires scored on runs of 35 and 40 yards as the Spartans built a 14-0 halftime lead. Layne Gray threw to Hunter Green on the 2-point conversion following the first touchdown.

Capping a five-minute drive, Matt Reed hauled in a 25-yard pass from Gray to open the second half scoring. Green ran the extra point to put the Spartans up 21-0.
Spires, who finished with 125 yards on nine carries, scored his third touchdown of the day on a 10-yard run in the fourth quarter.

After Dylan Tarver recovered a fumble to stop a Briarfield drive at the Prairie View 2, Spires found Reed on a 78-yard TD pass. Reed caught two passes for 103 yards, both for touchdowns. Spires punched in the extra point to close out the scoring.

Gray (14 tackles, 1 tackle for loss), Green (12 tackles) and Spires (7 tackles, interception, forced fumble) led the Spartans defensively. Also contributing to the shutout were Tarver, Bryce Wallace, Reed, Lucas Crockett, Payton Hollis, Jacob Walker, Andrew Janes, Brayden Kilcrease and Fisher Binns.
