The University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team used a three-run second inning to pick up its fourth consecutive win with a 4-1 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State on Thursday.

The big hit of the three-run frame was former Bastrop High standout Jennifer Hickman’s two-run double to left-center, which followed sophomore Randa Perry’s RBI-double to left earlier in the inning.

The Cotton Blossoms (11-4) scored their final run in the bottom of the fourth frame on an RBI double by junior Sarah Hayslip.

Sophomore Kayla Jackson (6-2) tossed her eighth complete game in eight starts this season. She allowed only one run, which was unearned, off three hits with four strikeouts and four walks.

The Cotton Blossoms begin the Gulf South Conference portion of the 2010 schedule this weekend with a four-game series against Delta State in Cleveland, Miss. The two squads begin the weekend with a double header this Saturday, March 6 at 1 p.m.
