Rayville 54, Bastrop 41

T'Kira Fuller dropped in 19 points as the Rayville Lady Hornets carved out a 54-41 victory over Bastrop on Monday night at Sam's Place.

Bastrop played the Lady Hornets on even terms, 11-11, through the first eight minutes. Rayville carried a 31-28 lead into the half and began to create some distance early in the third frame. Outscoring the Lady Rams 13-6, the Lady Hornets stretched their lead to 41-31 at the end of three.

Fuller was joined in the Rayville scoring by Jalexis Kelly with 16, Amari West with seven, Edberly Minnieweather with six, Mykiya Wilson with three and Tamaya Miller with two.

Mia Hardin was high scorer for the Lady Rams with 16. Martianna Johnson contributed nine, Tiffany Washington seven, Jalyea Peoples six, Cynthia Washington two and Chyberia Wilson one.

Rayville made 6-of-9 (66.7 percent) free throw attempts while the Lady Rams were 3-of-6 (50 percent).

Coming off of a 1-3 start against four Class 4 and 5A schools, the Lady Hornets defeated Madison Parish 61-55 Saturday in the Ouachita Tournament before evening their record at 3-3 Monday night.

Bastrop dropped to 3-2.

Next up for the Lady Rams is a 6 p.m. girls/boys double header vs. Lincoln Prep at Grambling on Tuesday, Dec. 4.

Notes: Bastrop played without guard Destiny Cephas, who was injured in a 60-45 loss to Delhi on Tuesday, Nov. 27. Cephas is listed as day-to-day. ... The boys game was canceled as the defending Class 2A state champion Hornets' schedule exceeded the maximum amount of games allowed by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association.
