Bastrop High's scheduled home basketball double header against Rayville on Monday night has been reduced to a girls game at 6 p.m.

Bastrop coach Theabury Odom says Rayville canceled Friday morning after discovering its schedule exceeded the the Louisiana High School Athletic Association's maximum amount of games.

Rayville, the defending Class 2A state champion, played four games in the Washington (Ill.) Tournament of Champions last week. The Hornets defeated Chicago Leo 82-66, Cy-Fair (Texas) 87-57 and St. Louis Christian Brothers 83-57 before falling to Belleville (Ill.) West in the championship game. The loss snapped a 41-game winning streak for the Hornets, who were coming off of a perfect 38-0 2017-18 campaign.

Bastrop (1-3), which dropped a 43-35 decision to Delhi on Tuesday night, returns to action Tuesday, Dec. 4 with a road game vs. Grambling Lincoln Prep.

The Lady Rams (3-1) will try to bounce back from their first loss Monday night after falling to defending Class 1A state champion Delhi 60-45.

A state quarterfinalist last season, the Lady Hornets bring a 1-1 worksheet into the contest. Rayville opened the season last week in the Bossier Tournament, knocking off host Bossier 61-50, followed by a narrow 55-54 loss to Class 5A Parkway.
