LAKE D’ARBONNE – Bass fishing has been good fishing the old creeks and slough edges around grass with spinners and soft plastics. Lots of bream and crappie are biting in the lake but especially below the spillway. Best jigs for crappie this week have been the 120-red, #514, Sweet Tea Lemon, Blue Back Shad and Dream-sicle. Bream are on the beds and hitting crickets and worms. Catfish continue to bite cold worms fished off the banks. LAKE CLAIBORNE – Crappie have moved away from the shallows and are suspended over deep water. Shiners seem to be the ticket for success this week. Bass fishing has been fair to good with some of the better catches made on white spinner baits fished along the banks; largest this week was around 6 pounds. Striper fishing is slowly improving with best bait being a white bucktail with white grub attached. Catfishing has been good on both trotlines and stump hooks. CANEY LAKE – Bass fishing has been best at night fishing soft plastics with Brian Evans, Eros, landing a 10.99 pounder. During the days, best technique is to fish the deep humps and drops with deep diving crank baits and jigs. Bream are on the beds with lots of bluegills and chinquapins hitting worms and crickets. The crappie have moved from shallow and are suspended over deep water. Fishing for them has been only fair this week. LAKE POVERTY POINT – Catfish and bream are both biting really well with bream hitting crickets and worms and catfish a variety of baits. The crappie are scattered and rather slow. No report on bass this week. For latest reports, call Poverty Point Marina at 318.878.0101.
