LAKE D’ARBONNE — Some crappie are still around the banks and hitting shiners and jigs while some have moved off into 10-18 foot water where jigs and shiners are picking up some good fish 6-8 feet deep. Best jigs this week have been the 120-red, #512, black/chartreuse, Critter Glitter, Tomato and Watermelon Wine. Bass are best in the sloughs on crank baits, spinners and soft plastics. LAKE CLAIBORNE — Bass fishing has been fair to good on spinners, Brush Hogs and topwater lures. Crappie fishing has been best under the lights at night on shiners while some are also being caught below the spillway on jigs and shiners. Bream fishing is just starting to improve on crickets and worms. Stripers are slow to fair around boat docks. No report on catfish this week. CANEY LAKE — Bass fishing is fair to good with some bigger fish in the 6 to 8 pound range still hanging around the beds. Jigs and Chatter-baits are working best. Some crappie continue to spawn in shallow water while some have moved off the banks and are suspended in deeper water. Jigs and shiners have been best. Chinquapins are starting to move to shallow humps to spawn and worms, small crawfish and crickets are starting to produce.
