Beekman 8, Mangham 3

MANGHAM — Zeb Morgan went 2-for-4 and scored a pair of runs to back the five-hit pitching of Brayden Spigner as Beekman took care of Mangham 8-3 Thursday afternoon.

Beekman grabbed an early 2-0 lead with single tallies in its first two turns at bat.

Seth Meyers drew a one-out walk in the first and scored when Brock Jenkins was safe on a two-base error.

Morgan opened the second with a two-bagger. Two batters later, Dawson Moore's double sent Morgan home.

Beekman increased the difference to 4-0 with two in the fifth.

Ryan Chain singled with one away. Following a fly out, Spigner (double) and Jenkins (singled) delivered two-out, run-producing hits.

After the first two batters went down in order, the Dragons crept within 4-2 in the fifth.

Josh Keeton singled and Rodney Guin walked to set up Caden Monnin's two-run double.

Beekman responded with a four-run sixth.

Morgan singled and Scott McMath bunted his way aboard, placing runners at first and second with nobody out. Moore advanced the runners with a groundout before Clayton Nunn plated Morgan with a bunt single off the squeeze.

Three consecutive walks to Chain, Myers and Spigner, mixed in with a couple of wild pitches, enabled the Tigers to open up a commanding 8-2 lead.

Monnin's two-out double drove in Guin, who singled, in the seventh to wrap up the scoring.

Spigner whiffed 11 and walked five in a 119-pitch complete game effort for the win.

Morgan set the tone for the Tigers' (7-10, 1-4) eight-hit attack with a double and a single, Moore doubled and Chain, Sharp, McMath and Nunn singled.

Monnin drove in all three runs with a pair of two-outs hits to pace the Dragons (7-6, 4-1) offensively. Guin doubled and singled and Keeton and Hayden Hutson supplied base hits.
