Bastrop High alumnus Chelsea Fagan has been named NJCAA Player of the Week for the second time her career.

For the second time in her career, Bossier Parish Community College sophomore Chelsea Fagan has been named Division I Player of the Week by the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Fagan posted a .545 batting average with nine home runs and 19 RBIs over a six-game stretch from March 19-25 while helping the Lady Cavaliers to a 5-1 record. Capping off her big week, Fagan slugged two home runs in both games as BPCC swept Northeast Texas 9-3, 7-4 in a Saturday, March 24 double header.

She currently leads the nation in home runs (25), total bases (126), RBIs (62) and slugging percentage (1.248).

A former Bastrop Lady Ram, Fagan has played three positions this season — catcher, first base and third base — for BPCC (24-6), which is ranked No. 15 in the latest national poll.

Fagan also won an NJCAA Player of the Week award last year as a freshman.

Monique Ashley of Seward County (Kansas) is the Division I Pitcher of the Week. She was 2-0 with a 0.00 earned run average and 27 punchouts in 13.1 innings.

Itawamba (Miss.) pitcher Bailie Springfield is Pitcher of the Week and LSU Eunice left fielder Emily Henderson is Player of the Week for Division II. Henderson, a sophomore North DeSoto High School product, won the award for the second time in three weeks.

Joliet (Ill.) center fielder Sarah Goff won the Division III Player of the Week honor.
