Sterlington 11, Ouachita 1
Sterlington exploded for seven runs with two outs in the bottom of the second and Trey Rugg took care of the rest as the Panthers upended Ouachita 11-1.
Luke Denman and Tucker Allen got the Panthers started in the second with back-to-back walks. Reece Brooks moved the runners over with a groundout, and Logan Rushing picked up both runners with a two-out base hit.
Jarrett McDonald followed with another base bump and Carson Clowers walked to set up Spencer Davis' two-run single.
Stepping into the box next, Brooks Rushworth lofted a three-run bomb over the left field wall, extending the Panthers' lead to 7-0.
Rugg gave up an unearned run on four hits and struck out six without giving up a walk in the five-inning complete game victory.
"We came out and got all of those runs with two outs, and Rugg threw strikes," Sterlington coach Mark Sims said. "We took one inning off on defense where we had a couple of errors, but he pitched through it."
Sterlington put the game away with four in the fifth.
Allen reached on a misplay, Brooks singled and Rushing walked to load the bases. McDonald, Clowers, Johnson and Hough followed with four consecutive RBI singles.
Tuesday night's contest against Ouachita (9-11) marked the start of a five-game homestand for the Panthers (14-2).
