Franklin Parish 11, Beekman 2
Katelyn Thrasher drove in four runs with a pair of two-run singles and limited Beekman to three hits as Franklin Parish notched an 11-2 victory Friday afternoon.
The visiting Lady Patriots scored in every inning but the fifth.
Victoria Mays led off the game with an opposite-field triple to left and Gracie King walked. Two groundouts later, Kaylee King's five-foot single loaded the bases for Thrasher, who guided a two-run single into right field to open the scoring.
Franklin Parish doubled its lead to 4-0 with unearned runs in the second and third.
Carlie Bankston led off the fourth with an inside-the-park home run to right field. Mary Clark followed with an RBI single up the middle and scored the Lady Patriots' sixth run on Gracie's King's double to left.
Thrasher held the Lady Tigers hitless until Hannah Irby singled with one out in the fifth.
FPHS put the game away with five in the sixth.
Bankston reached on a leadoff error and Mary Clark beat out a bunt single to bring up the top of the order. Mays plated both runners with a base hit to center before being erased on Gracie King's fielder's choice. Kaylee Martin then roped an RBI single to right and held at third on Kiara Clark's double to center.
One out later, Thrasher's two-run single off the left-center fence brought the score to 11-0.
Beekman extended the game with two in the sixth.
Alyssa Culbreath drew a two-out walk and circled the bases on Ashton Reynolds' opposite-field double off the base of the left field fence. Jaislyn Sanders, batting from the cleanup slot, chased pinch runner Trena Bullock home with a base hit to right.
Thrasher struck out four and walked one in the complete game performance.
Mays set the tone for FPHS (10-6) offensively with a triple and two singles, Kaylee King, Thrasher and Mary Clark supplied two singles apiece, Bankston homered, Gracie King and Kiara Clark doubled, and Martin singled.
Reynolds doubled and Sanders and Irby singled for the Lady Tigers (4-8).
