Game 1
Prairie View 9, WCCA 0

WOODVILLE, Miss. — Tanner Caldwell went 3-for-4 and picked up the win on the mound as Prairie View blanked Wilkinson County Christian 9-0 in the front end of a double header Monday afternoon.

Prairie View got all it would need in the top of the first.

Layton Rainbolt walked on five pitches to open the game and moved into scoring position on Caldwell's groundout. Blake Ray then drilled an RBI single to left to put the Spartans on the board. Ray eventually scored on a passed ball.

Back-to-back walks to Jacob Farrar and Hayes Crockett and Austin Carroll's infield hit loaded the bases with still only one out before Farrar chugged home on an error with the third run of the inning.

Ray's one-out single chased home Cade Murphy in the second as the visitors padded their lead to 4-0.

Prairie View concluded the scoring with three in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Caldwell doubled to start the fourth, took third on Ray's fly out to center and came around to score on Farrar's base hit to left.

One out later, Carroll doubled Farrar across and Mason Rogers poked an RBI single to center.

With one down in the fifth, Rainbolt walked, pilfered second and dashed home as Caldwell legged out a bunt single and took second on an error. Caldwell went on to score on Ray's sacrifice bunt.

Caldwell struck out five and walked one in two hitless innings for the win. Rainbolt (1.1 innings, 3 strikeouts, 1 walk) and Murphy (1.2 IP, 4 K, 0 BB) gave up one hit apiece while completing the shutout.

Prairie View (5-1) out-hit the Rams 12-2. Caldwell showed the way with a double, two singles and three runs scored. Carroll doubled and singled, Ray (3 RBIs) and Rogers contributed two singles apiece, and Rainbolt, Farrar and Murphy added base hits. Gage Riles was hit by a pitch in all three plate appearances.

R.J. Fisher singled with two outs in the third and Andrew Sessions singled with one down in the fifth for WCCA.
