Sterlington 6, Franklin Parish 0
WINNSBORO — Tanner Wilson unfurled a five-hit shutout as Sterlington posted a 6-0 road victory over Franklin Parish on Monday afternoon.
Wilson and Katelyn Thrasher traded zeroes until the Lady Panthers broke through for two in the fourth.
K.B. Briley doubled to left with one out and Carson Lyon reached on a fielder's choice. Rebekah Wood then singled up the middle, driving in Rachel Wisecarver, Briley's pinch runner. Wood scored when Catherine Trichell reached on an error.
Franklin's best scoring opportunity came in the bottom of the fourth.
Consecutive base hits by Gracie King and Kaylee Martin placed runners at first and second with nobody out. With one away, Kaira Clark singled before Lyon's throw from right field to Wood nailed the runner at the plate.
Wilson never allowed another runner past second base.
Sterlington doubled its lead to 4-0 with two more in the fifth.
Jada Smith led off with a base hit and went to second on Wilson's sacrifice bunt. Next, Sylvestri ripped an RBI double to left and scored on Briley's base hit.
Sterlington wrapped up the scoring with single tallies in the sixth and seventh.
Amber Parnell singled with two outs in the sixth, moved into scoring position as Smith was safe an error and made her way home on Wilson's base hit.
In the seventh, Lyon walked with one gone, stole second and crossed home on Trichell's two-out, RBI single.
Wilson struck out six, walked two and surrendered five hits — all singles — as the Lady Panthers (6-2) won their fourth straight.
Briley and Mullins doubled and singled as the Lady Panthers out-hit the Lady Patriots 10-5. Sylvestri doubled and Wilson, Wood, Trichell, Parnell and Smith singled.
King and Martin produced two singles apiece and Clark added a base hit for the Lady Patriots (6-3), whose three-game winning streak came to an end.
