Prairie View 11, Union Christian 4

HAYNESVILLE — Layton Rainbolt and Tyler Peters had two hits apiece as Prairie View downed Union Christian 11-4 Saturday afternoon at Claiborne Academy.

Rainbolt led off the game with a double, pilfered third and scored on Caleb Christmas' RBI groundout. Next, JaMarco Edmonds walked on four pitches and eventually scored on a passed ball to give the Spartans a 2-0 lead.

Prairie View parlayed four hits and three free passes into a five-run second.

John Major Guerrero's leadoff walk and back-to-back singles by Cade Murphy and Rainbolt filled the sacks with nobody out. Christmas walked to force in a run, Edmonds poked an RBI single and Peters slashed a two-run single to left. Jacob Walker's groundout plated Edmonds with the final run of the frame, bringing the score to 7-0.

RBI singles by Christmas in the third and Jaheem Brownin the fourth upped the spread to 9-0.

Sparked by Landen-Bain Carpenter's run-scoring single, the Lions broke through for three in the fifth.

Prairie View put up two more in the sixth to go up 11-3.

Peters walked and Austin Carroll doubled to place runners at second and third with nobody out. Gage Riles bunted Peters across and Hayes Crockett followed with a sac fly.

UCA wrapped up the scoring with an unearned run in the sixth.

Rainbolt went two hitless innings for the win, striking out two and walking two as the Spartans employed seven different pitchers.

Rainbolt and Peters doubled and singled to key the Spartans' 11-hit attack. Murphy supplied two singles, Carroll doubled and Christmas, Edmonds, Brown and Guerrero singled.

Evan Hodges, Carpenter and Pace Pearson singled for the Lions.

Prairie View (3-0) is scheduled to host Tensas Academy in a double header on Tuesday, starting at 4 p.m.
