Sterlington 16, Forest 1

RUSTON — Exploding for a dozen runs in the bottom of the first inning, Sterlington took the suspense out of Thursday night's game against Forest early en route to a 16-1 victory.

Sterlington was originally scheduled to host Oak Grove on Thursday, but the game was postponed due to a soggy field. Instead, the Lady Panthers and Forest agreed to play at Cedar Creek at the last minute.

Breanna Sylvestri worked a 1-2-3 top of the first for the Lady Panthers.

Tanner Wilson led off the Sterlington first with a double and later added an RBI triple. Carly Wilson contributed a two-run triple. A total of 15 Lady Panthers strolled to the batter's box during the marathon inning.

Forest broke up the shutout in the top of the fourth on Katie Rios' RBI single.

Sterlington (4-2) wrapped up the scoring with four in the fourth.

Sylvestri was credited with the win. Tanner Wilson pitched a scoreless second with Emarie Adams taking care of the final two innings.

Catherine Trichell went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored to pace the Lady Panthers' 13-hit attack. Tanner Wilson tripled and doubled, Carly Wilson tripled and singled, K.B. Briley drove in two runs with a pair of doubles, and Carson Lyon, Rebekah Wood, Kaela Mullins and Jada Smith singled.

Rios doubled and singled for the Bulldogs, with Abbie Ramage and and Brooke Ross supplying base hits.
