LAKE D’ARBONNE — Despite adverse weather conditions, heavy rains and rising muddy water, some good crappie catches have been reported with most fish caught on the flats off the channel. Spider rigging jigs and shiners seems to be working best. Bass are improving along the banks on Rogues, spinners and soft plastics. Catfish are biting night crawlers and cold worms off the banks. LAKE CLAIBORNE — At long last, the lake is full with water running over the spillway. Bass fishing has been good with some nice fish caught around the stumps and along the banks on Booyah baits and Baby Brush Hogs and spinners. The crappie are starting to move from deeper water toward the coves with some success on shiners and jigs. Also, some are being caught at night around the lights on shiners. CANEY LAKE — Crappie are being caught both deep and shallow with shiners working best. Bass are moving into the creeks and are hitting crank baits, Rat-L-Traps and soft plastics. Yellow bass are still being caught deep on jigging spoons. Big news for the lake is that the slot limit on bass is no more. Ten fish limit; any size can be kept.
