LAKE D’ARBONNE — With the expected heavy rains this week, look for fishing to be effected by rising and off-color water. However, some crappie have been caught along channel edges on jigs and shiners. Bass have been best around grass in shallow water on spinners, Rat-L-Traps and soft plastics. LAKE CLAIBORNE — The lake is rising and this week’s rains could see water flowing over the spillway. Big news this week is a potential lake record bass, 12.79 pounds, caught in a tournament by Chris Clement, Bastrop, on a spinner bait. Greg Terzia, Ruston, had a bag of 21.91 pounds, good enough for second place, he caught on spinners and Pepper jigs around stumps in 5 foot water. Some crappie have been caught in deep water on shiners. Catfishing is improving. Anglers can now launch at Kel’s Cove launch ramp along with Area 2 at the State Park and at Pleasure Point. CANEY LAKE — Double Silver Rainbow and Crystal Shad jigs along with shiners are taking crappie down deep. While some bass are moving shallow and hitting spinner baits and Rogues, they along with yellow bass can still be caught in deep water on jigging spoons.
