Ferriday 84, Beekman 70
FERRIDAY — Ferriday won the game, but Beekman's Daryl Seay stole the show. With four of their five starters scoring in double figures, the Trojans withstood a 46-point barrage from Seay in Tuesday night's 84-70 victory.
Seay scored 15 points in the first quarter, helping Beekman to a 19-18 lead.
Ferriday outscored the Tigers 18-13 in the second period behind five buckets from Dantrieze Scott to grab a 36-32 halftime advantage.
Marquell Griffin and Curtis Collins scored six points apiece in the third quarter as the Trojans widened the spread to 56-44.
Despite 17 points from Seay, the Trojans outscored the Tigers 28-26 in the final frame. Scott had 11 points in the quarter and Montrieze Sandage swished a trio of 3-pointers for the home side.
With the victory, Ferriday (16-11, 10-2) clinched second place in District 2-2A.
Scott, an LSU football signee, set the standard for the Trojans with 32 points. Griffin tossed in 17, Collins had 15 and Sandage 12 on four 3s. Brooks and Malik Matthews rounded out the attack with five and two, respectively.
Seay funneled home eight 3-pointers and made 10-of-11 free throws in a stunning offensive display. Also contributing to the Beekman scoring were Greg Tatum with nine, Xavier Hargraves with six, Zak Wade with four, Chad Jones with three and Jaquinton Killian with two.
